Form Letters/Petitions

In a March 18, 2009, press release, Senator Dianne Feinstein announced her intention to introduce legislation to protect hundreds of thousands of acres of the Mojave Desert by establishing a new national monument and by ensuring all lands suitable for protection at this time are included. She has also written to Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar expressing her concerns about these lands.
The California Desert Coalition has a NEW PETITION in its fight to stop Green Path North, this time to Senator Feinstein as shown to the right. We urge everyone to print copies of this petition, collect signatures, and return petition sheets when filled with signatures to CDC, P.O. Box 1508, Yucca Valley, CA 92286.
This petition applauds Senator Feinstein for her efforts to protect the California Desert and urges her to include the Big Morongo Canyon Preserve, through which LADWP wants to run Green Path North power lines, in her protective legislation.
This preserve lies between Joshua Tree National Park and the San Bernardino Mountains and provides a wildlife corridor that is crucial to preserving the desert's biodiversity. The preserve serves as a refuge for more than 240 species of migrating and breeding birds and is visited by over 50,000 national and international tourists each year.
See CDC's Big Morongo Canyon Preserve web page for more information about this preserve.
